THEATRE ROYAL BATH - 2016 CREATIVE FUND AWARDS

CHURCHFIELDS, THE VILLAGE SCHOOL receives an Award of £10,000 to create a natural outdoor theatre including a low level stage with grass seating on the sloping playing fields at the School, the Children will be central to all stages of the Project.  Working with Woodland Adventurers and a performing arts specialist the School will use the space to teach performing arts including acting, stage management, advertising and budgeting.  The outdoor performances, open to the local community, will create future funding to sustain the ongoing Project.

Children from 2 years of age through to 11 years of age will be integral to the project covering broad aspects that support the national curriculum from EYFS to KS1 and KS2 such as:
  • Design and planning
  • Project management
  • Construction
  • Acting
  • Directing performances
  • Stage Management
  • Make-up
  • Sound
  • Lighting
  • Costume
  • Ticketing
  • Budgeting
  • Marketing
  • Advertising
The project includes establishing an outdoor theatre, the coaching and support of a performing arts specialist and ongoing revenue establishment through performances to continue to embed the learning support year on year for future children in years to come.

The vision is to inspire new generations of children from 2 years of age to 11 years of age to gain a love for the performing arts, building their self-confidence and creativity that supports their lifelong learning, capabilities and happiness.
